One: A Modern Psalm
A few years ago, as I was struggling to cope with things I had experienced in life and ministry, I started spending a lot of time in the Book of Psalms. Eventually, that led to me to write psalms of my own, like the one I am sharing with you today.
Psalm writing has a long and rich tradition. It’s a deeply personal way to connect with God, sharing with Him your concerns, your struggles, your pain-points, and your laments.
I hope and pray that you read this and that it might connect with you on some level.
Thanks for reading!
One: A Modern Psalm
1 Who am I, O God, that You would call me Yours?
2 Was I not once a sinner who stood with scoffers and who did not delight in Your word?
3 Yet, through Your beloved Son, Jesus Christ, I came to know forgiveness and experience the profound breadth of Your grace and Your mercy.
4 I stand, like a tree by the river, Your living waters nourishing my soul as I heed Your word day and night.
5 Once, I lived solely for me. Today, I live only for You, my Rock and my Salvation.
6 Gratitude, beyond measure, fills my heart. 7 My cup overflows with blessing and prosperity. 8 Your unimaginable kindness overwhelms my heart, my mind, and my soul. 9 You, are my strength, my courage, and my Redeemer.
10 Thank You, O God, for not giving up on me. Thank You, O God, for saving me.
This original psalm first appeared on my blog The Devotional Guy™.
